Become a sponsor
You can become a sponsor of a family in our pilot project. If you would like to talk to us about this opportunity, please use the contact form to get in touch with us. A team member will be in touch promptly.
How do I get started ?
In order to initiate the sponsorship, you need to set up a secure way to transfer money to your recipient. The cheapest and most efficient way we have found for both recipient and sponsor is Skrill.com. Skrill is like Paypal but exists in most countries. Using this service saves us from having to duplicate all the expensive security and regulatory measures we would need if we handled the money transfers ourselves.
I do not have a skrill.com account. How do I get one ?
If you do not already have one, we ask that you set yourself up with a Skrill account before becoming a sponsor, so that you can make the first payment when you sign up.
How does the sponsorship work ?
With Skrill, all you need to make a payment is the email address of your recipient. You will receive this during the sign-up process. After the initial sign-up in our system, you do not need to do anything again, just make the payments via skrill and our system will automatically show your payments as your recipient receives them. Your Direct Sponsor account exists solely to give you a simple way to access the accounts and updates specific to your recipient and their project.
- Set up a Skrill Account
- Transfer some funds into it
- Open your Direct Sponsor account
- Receive email address and details of your recipient
- Make first payment.
Transferring funds to your skrill.com
Setting up a regular transfer from your bank to your skrill account will make things easier, and is usually the cheapest way. Depending on your bank's fee structures, it may be cheaper to make a single payment e.g. every 6 months. When transferring money into your Skrill account, remember to add in the 1% skrill fee. E.g. when you pay 10 euro to your recipient, Skrill charges you 10c
