Our initial projects will consist of small groups of sponsors (up to 12), each sponsoring 10 Euro or more on a monthly basis, to one family. Within three years, the family will have established autonomy, largely through food production, to the point where sponsorship is no longer necessary.
Each project is part of the greater bioregional whole within which local families are progressively sponsored. Eventually, the regional school will play a crucial part in the spreading of permaculture and in turn, the teaching of permaculture will generate revenue to fund the school.
Our ongoing projects are listed below
In collaboration with Badilasha Eco Village, Direct Sponsor will serve the people of Rusinga Island by promoting and demonstrating sustainable practices, in particular in food production and domestic issues, guided by the ethics and principles of permaculture. Our initial sponsored projects will focus on the urgent needs of vulnerable sections of the community and the regeneration of environmentally degraded areas of the island.
