In Morocco we have a project to restore a drought-prone valley, using permaculture to create a forest. This will be a food forest, so as well as holding in the rainfall, stopping soil loss and eliminating the water shortage it will fulfill all the basic needs of the local people.
In partnership with the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia, we are building a school and permaculture center to enable local people to repair their land and then to teach others. Within three years this valley will have improved to the point that it will need no further funding to keep the people out of poverty, and to always have clean water to drink.
Our first recipient is Marwane, who has been working with us on related projects for three years. He will be the project coordinator and set up the other recipients in the area. With your help he will be able to do this. You can see Marwane in the first video below, explaining the chronic water shortage in the area.
